Can’t I just enroll in traffic school to avoid points on my record?

First, you must be eligible to enroll in traffic school, and if in fact you are, even successfully completing traffic school does not dismiss your ticket (therefore your traffic ticket will still show up on your driving record). Take charge of your driving record and lawyer up with a rhino today.

What’s the difference between an infraction and a criminal charge?

A traffic infraction is a civil matter (e.g. speeding, careless driving, etc.) that involves penalties such as a fine, court costs, or license suspension. A criminal traffic charge (e.g. DUI, no valid driver’s license) may carry jail-time and/or probation in addition to fines, court costs, and/or license suspension.

What if I think I really am guilty?

Even if you think you’re guilty, it’s still important to fight your traffic charge. There are many ways to avoid a conviction on your driving record. Legal technicalities are our friends. The police will need to produce very specific documents and testify accurately to convict you. The only way to have your ticket dismissed is to dispute it. Do I really need a lawyer?

Yes, if you don’t want to have to appear in court and risk ending up in a trial without an experienced lawyer to gather and present all relevant evidence in a clear and convincing manner. An experienced lawyer will likely greatly improve the chances of achieving your goals. Many times it’s the officer’s word against yours. The reason you received a ticket was based on the officer’s opinion, but that same officer you’re up against in court has likely been in court hundreds of times. Keep in mind that police officers are human too, just like you; as such, they are very capable of mistakes or errors in judgment. One mistake or error in judgment could result in a dismissal of your traffic charge. Take charge of your driving record and lawyer up with a rhino today.

Can’t I just pay my ticket?

Sure, but it doesn’t make it go away. When you do not dispute your ticket, you essentially admit the alleged offense you were charged with. This can cause skyrocketed insurance premiums for years, and in some cases can cause your license to be suspended, car impounded, or even land you in jail. Did you know that your license could be suspended with just two tickets? Take charge of your driving record and lawyer up with a rhino today.
